Karen Woo, MD, PhD's Bio
Karen Woo, MD, is an associate professor of surgery at UCLA and a vascular surgeon at the VA West Los Angeles Medical Center. Her research focuses on surgical quality improvement and outcomes and dialysis access for the elderly.
She received the Janet M. Glasgow Memorial Achievement Citation from the American Medical Women’s Association and the Ruben F. Gittes Award for Excellence in Research by a Surgical Fellow from Scripps Clinic in San Diego, and twice earned the LAC+USC/Keck School of Medicine Faculty Teaching Award. She was named a Top Doctor in Vascular Surgery by Pasadena Magazine.
Woo earned an MD from University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, completed residency at Cedars-Sinai and a fellowship in vascular surgery at Scripps Clinic, and was USC Schaeffer Center Resource Center for Minority Aging Research Scholar.
