Adriana Reyes, PhD's Bio
Adriana Reyes, PhD, is an assistant professor of policy analysis and management at Cornell University and an affiliate of the NIA-funded Center for Aging and Policy Studies. She earned her PhD in sociology and demography from Pennsylvania State University and completed an NIA-funded postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Michigan.
Her research examines how racism and structural determinants shape inequalities in health with an emphasis on family and life course processes. This research takes three main forms: 1) research on the mechanisms of health disparities among older marginalized populations, 2) research on family networks as strategies for coping with social inequality, and 3) the health implications of family networks and resources across the life course. In her previous research she has studied the health and mortality of older immigrants and racial and ethnic differences in family proximity. As a RCMAR scholar she will study the role of health policy on the activation of family caregiving for older adults.
