Desi Peneva, MS's Bio
Desi Peneva is the research management lead at the USC Schaeffer Center. She manages all phases of research project execution from study design and implementation to results delivery and dissemination as a member of the Value of Life Sciences Innovation Project team at the center. She also administers the Schaeffer Center’s research development program through strategic planning of grant development initiatives, identifying funding opportunities, and facilitating the proposal development process to promote collaborative research environment and advance the center’s research agenda.
Peneva has held various research, academic, and professional consulting positions, most recently as an associate director and research scientist leading a team of researchers executing over 50 health policy and pharmaceutical economics studies at a consultancy to the life sciences industry. She has expertise in evidence synthesis, evidence generation, and scientific communication in various therapeutic areas including oncology, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, and maternal and infant disorders. Her research has examined the value of new and existing health technologies and the impact of health policy on health and economic outcomes, including retrospective analyses, predictive models, burden of disease studies, and health economic evaluations demonstrating the value of innovation to society.
She received her master's degree in economics from Illinois State University and her bachelor's degree in finance from Minnesota State University Moorhead.
