Competition, Prices, and Innovation: Lessons from the Pharmaceutical Industry

Sarah Schutz is an associate economist at RAND. Prior to RAND and during graduate school, she served as an ORISE fellow in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE) in HHS. Her research interests include pharmaceutical pricing and innovation, healthcare competition, and Medicare Part D. She received her bachelor’s degree in economics and statistics from Barnard College and Ph.D. in healthcare management and economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
