Jillian Wallis, PhD's Bio

Jillian Wallis is the Research Data Administrator at the USC Schaeffer Center for Health Policy & Economics. She manages the Center’s health data collection which includes 80+ sources spanning some 175 million lives. She is responsible for data acquisition, managing data access, supporting users, development and maintenance of a Drupal-based data reference catalog, Linux server administration, Box file repository administration, as well as compliance with national, university, and vendor requirements for the protection of PHI and PII. Jillian received her PhD in Information Studies from the UCLA Graduate School of Education & Information Studies. Her dissertation entitled “The Distribution of Data Management Responsibilities in Scientific Collaborations” is an ethnographic study of collaborative research teams within UCLA’s Center for Embedded Networked Sensing, an NSF CISE funded, multi-campus, multi-disciplinary research center that focused on the development of embedded networked sensing systems for a variety of scientific applications. She also received her MLIS from UCLA in 2005.
