“Evaluating Mergers in the Presence of Dynamic Competition Using Impacts on Rivals”

Darren Filson

Darren Filson received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Rochester in 1996. After teaching at the Pennsylvania State University for one year, he joined the faculty of Claremont Graduate University (CGU) in 1997. He was granted tenure and promoted to associate professor in 2003, and served as department chair from 2005-2007. He joined the faculty of Claremont McKenna College in 2007, and is currently an associate professor and the Director of Graduate Programs in the Robert Day School of Economics and Finance at Claremont McKenna College. His research focuses on intersections between industrial organization, finance and strategy. His recent work examines the impacts of mergers on R&D in the pharmaceutical industry and the performance of film franchises in the movie industry.
