Since they first discovered a shocking rise in deaths by suicide, drug overdose, and alcoholism in middle-aged white Americans and coined the term “deaths of despair,” Princeton economist Anne Case and Nobel Prize-winner Angus Deaton, presidential professor of economics at the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts & Sciences and distinguished fellow at the USC Schaeffer Center for Health Policy & Economics, and their dramatic discoveries have had a profound influence on
domestic and international news.

The authors will briefly discuss their work, followed by a book signing.
