Bill Anderson's Bio
Bill Anderson became Roche Pharmaceuticals' Chief Executive Officer in January 2019.
Previously, he served as Genentech's Chief Executive Officer from 2017 and was head of Global Product Strategy for Roche Pharmaceuticals in Basel, Switzerland since 2013. Bill joined Genentech in 2006 and was responsible for the Immunology and Ophthalmology businesses until 2010 when he became head of BioOncology, Genentech’s largest therapy area.
Bill developed broad global experience through his roles at Roche and previous employers in engineering, operations, finance and sales and marketing. In addition to his native United States, Bill has worked in Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium, and the UK, where he served as a general manager. Prior to joining Genentech, Bill worked for nine years at Biogen, and for four years at Ethyl Corporation, a specialty chemicals company.
He earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Texas in 1988, and master's degrees in management and chemical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1995.
