Norman C. Payson, MD's Bio

Norman Payson, MD, is president of NCP Inc. He has had more than a 30-year career as CEO of multiple healthcare organizations, including two Standard and Poor’s 500 publicly traded companies, and has worked closely with private equity firms in the transformation of underperforming healthcare companies.

Previously, he was chair and CEO of Apria Healthcare Group, the nation’s largest home healthcare provider, with 14,000 employees and more than $2.1 billion in annual revenue. From November 2005 through 2008, Payson was chair of Viant Holdings and its predecessor company, Concentra, Inc., overseeing its strategic restructuring. From 1998 through 2002, he was CEO of Oxford Health Plans, where he led the dramatically successful turnaround of a $6 billion health plan. From 1985 to 1997, he served as co-founder and CEO of Healthsource Inc., a three-million-member health plan operating in 15 states. From 1980 through 1984, he was CEO of a 120-physician multispecialty group practice.

Payson is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and received his MD at Dartmouth Medical School.
