John Hernandez, PhD's Bio

John Hernandez is head of Health Economics, Value and Access at Verily (formerly Google Life Sciences) at Alphabet, which is leveraging digital health data from patients, wearable biosensors, electronic health records, registries and claims data to proactively improve healthcare cost, quality and outcomes.

Prior to joining Verily, Hernandez was vice president of Global Health Economics and Outcomes Research at Abbott Laboratories. Previously, he was corporate vice president of Health Economics and Comparative Effectiveness at Boston Scientific Corporation, where he oversaw a broad range of global health economics, outcomes research, real-world data analytics and strategic reimbursement initiatives. He formerly held healthcare research, consulting and policy positions at the RAND Corporation, Quintiles, PriceWaterhouseCoopers and the American Society of Internal Medicine-American College of Physicians.

Hernandez completed his doctorate and master’s in policy analysis at the Pardee RAND Graduate School and his BA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
