About David Newman
David Newman, PhD, JD, is Executive Director of the Health Care Cost Institute. In his current position, Dr. Newman has supervised HCCI’s public reporting and transparency efforts. Dr. Newman has published on cost and utilization trends, health care transparency efforts, and big health care data. Prior to joining HCCI, Dr. Newman was a Specialist in Health Care Financing at the Congressional Research Service and previously served as a consultant to the Department of Health and Human Services, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Food and Drug Administration, the U.S. Army and Navy, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the Health Resources and Services Administration, and the U.S. Agency for International Development.
Dr. Newman possesses a PhD in Political Science from the University of Rochester and a JD from the University of New Hampshire Law School and has held academic appointments at Georgetown University, the National University of Singapore and Lingnan University in Hong Kong.
